Work in the Community

The Writing Food Project
This year, MACSAC worked with Rebecca Lorimer, a UW-Madison graduate student, on the Writing Food Project, aimed at providing students real-world writing experience regarding food-related issues. Lorimer received a Humanities Exposed (HEX) grant to cooridinate this project, which benefits both graduate research and community partners. Six students in Lorimer's 201 English class visited and created profiles of MACSAC farmers, researched and wrote articles on current issues in sustainable agriculture, and volunteered at MACSAC's 2009 Open House. We thank them for exploring these important topics related to our local food system and providing their work to share. Listed below are their Farmer Profiles and Essays.
